The House of Inquiry (HOiY) is a place for those who wish to relax from the busyness of their daily lives and create some quality time for themselves. Time to recharge, to just be and feel. Let the vast silence, the beauty and the spaciousness of this property, and the love it is imbued with, touch you, ground you and help you to reconnect with your Self.
You are invited to visit us here, partake in special events or come for an individual stay, just for yourself or with a group of friends. We host workshops, including Cellular Transformation retreats led by Jennifer Millar, and are also open outside of workshops for most of the year (see calendar). You might want to come just to be in silence or to share and inquire, authentically connect and celebrate life with your fellow travellers.
We are committed to providing a safe and loving space and all the care we can give so that each person feels welcomed and held in their experience. The House of Inquiry is an offering, both to the Divine and to your soul.
Where we are at and what we offer
This magical property came to us in 2021. It was just what we had hoped for. For the next 1 ½ years we were intensely immersed in bringing out its beauty and potential down to the last detail. It was a creative, joyous and guided process that lasted till early 2023.
Today, after having had the first workshops with more than 80 participants and several individual guests, we are so happy and grateful to feel and hear that the House of Inquiry has developed its own unique healing and holding energy. That people feel at home and taken care of and supported in their time here.
For the near future we envision two interconnected types of activities at the House of Inquiry: organizing workshops and creating an active community, a sangha.
Inquiry: the path starts with a question
Maybe it started for you with a crisis, or you were just discontent with ordinary life or you encountered an inspiring person, when you began to ask yourself questions like: "Is this all that life has to offer? Is there possibly a way out of my doubts, struggles and fears? Who am I and is there a deeper meaning to my life which goes beyond just fulfilling expectations and having "success"?"
This is where the Inquiry begins, where life is inviting you to dive in and explore the unknown. This is what The House of Inquiry aspires to support: your adventure, your journey into becoming more and more aware of who you really are, and the discovery of what is real and what is not. It is an exploration into our inner and outer lives, our feelings, our bodies, our relationships and our activities in the world, and how this all connects.
Accommodations, amenities & costs
The House of Inquiry consists of 5 separate houses, scattered on a beautiful peninsula-like piece of land of 65,000 sqm (16 acres). It offers 14 comfortable individual living spaces (single, couple and double rooms), all with private bathrooms and many with a small kitchen, plus a dormitory with 3 beds for simple living. All the rooms are mosquito proof and have AC/heating, fans and Wifi. We also offer a set-up spacious tent with a single mattress as well as an area for campers, with a sweet outdoor bathroom with both an indoor and outdoor hot shower.
The communal spaces, also with AC/heating and fans, are comprised of a Meditation Room that holds up to 30 people, a large hangout room with a fireplace, a dining space, a spa with jacuzzi, steam bath and a small gym with a few machines to work out on, an outside big bed with lots of cushions and blankets for chilling and two areas set up with massage tables, one indoors and one outdoors.
Where we are located
The House of Inquiry, officially named "Arca de Noe" (Noah's Arc) is situated right between the Mediterranean Sea to our south and the Mijas mountains to the north, in a quiet, sparsely populated, hilly rural area called Rancho de la Luz. From here you can in 10 - 15 min reach the beautiful 7 km long beach area and lively city center of Fuengirola below us as well as Mijas Pueblo, a quaint old village nestled in the hills above us definitely worth visiting, from where you can also hike up into the mountains.
Our area is also an ideal starting point for day tours to colorful Malaga (35 min to the center), the renowned beach and charming town of Tarifa on the Atlantic, the rock of Gibraltar, the beautiful old town of Ronda with its magnificent gorge, the biosphere reserve of Caminito del Rey with its spectacular 3 hour walkway, and to Granada with the famous Alhambra and its Arabic influenced old town (all about 1 1/2 - 2 hours from us). In about 2 1/2 to 3 hours you can reach Seville with its beautiful city center, palace, cathedral and arena, best for a stay over night.
