The House of Inquiry (HOiY) is a serene destination for those seeking to escape the busyness of their daily lives and create quality time for themselves. It’s a space to recharge, to simply be, and to feel. Allow the vast silence, beauty, and spaciousness of this property, infused with love, to touch you, ground you, and help you reconnect with your Self.
We invite you to visit the House of Inquiry, where you can partake in mindfulness workshops, special events, or enjoy individual accommodations for retreats, whether alone or with a group of friends. Our offerings include workshops like the Cellular Transformation retreats led by Jennifer Millar, and we remain open outside of workshops for most of the year (see calendar). You may choose to come just to embrace silence or to share, inquire, and authentically connect while celebrating life with fellow travelers.
We are dedicated to providing a safe and loving space, ensuring that each person feels welcomed and supported in their experience. The House of Inquiry is an offering to both the Divine and your soul.
Where we are at and what we offer
This magical property, known as the House of Inquiry, came to us in 2021, and it was just what we had hoped for. For the next 1 ½ years, we were intensely immersed in enhancing its beauty and potential down to the last detail. This creative, joyous, and guided process lasted until early 2023.
Today, after hosting our first mindfulness workshops with more than 80 participants and several individual guests, we are thrilled and grateful to recognize that the House of Inquiry has developed its own unique healing and holding energy. Guests feel at home, well taken care of, and supported during their time here, making it an ideal place for accommodations for retreats.
Looking ahead, we envision two interconnected types of activities at the House of Inquiry: organizing workshops and fostering an active community, a sangha.
Inquiry: the path starts with a question
Perhaps your journey began with a crisis, or maybe you felt discontent with ordinary life, or you met an inspiring person. It led you to ponder questions like: "Is this all that life has to offer? Can I find a way out of my doubts, struggles, and fears? Who am I, and is there a deeper meaning to my life beyond merely fulfilling expectations and achieving 'success'?"
This is where the Inquiry begins—a moment when life invites you to dive in and explore the unknown. The House of Inquiry aims to support your adventure and journey towards becoming more aware of who you truly are. This exploration encompasses our inner and outer lives, our feelings, bodies, relationships, and activities in the world, connecting all these aspects. To enhance this journey, we offer accommodations for retreats and mindfulness workshops designed to facilitate your personal growth and discovery.
Accommodations, amenities & costs
The House of Inquiry features 5 distinct houses, set on a stunning peninsula-like expanse of 65,000 sqm (16 acres). This serene location provides ideal accommodations for retreats, offering 14 comfortable individual living spaces, including single, couple, and double rooms, all equipped with private bathrooms and many with a small kitchen. Additionally, there is a dormitory with 3 beds for simple living. Every room is mosquito-proof and includes AC/heating, fans, and Wifi. For those seeking a more adventurous experience, we also have a spacious tent with a single mattress and a designated area for campers, complete with a charming outdoor bathroom that offers both indoor and outdoor hot showers.
The communal areas are equally inviting, featuring AC/heating and fans. These spaces include a Meditation Room that accommodates up to 30 people, a large hangout room with a cozy fireplace, a dining area, a spa complete with a jacuzzi and steam bath, and a small gym equipped with several workout machines. Guests can relax on an outdoor large bed adorned with cushions and blankets, and we also provide two areas set up with massage tables—one indoors and one outdoors—perfect for unwinding after mindfulness workshops.
Where we are located
The House of Inquiry, officially named "Arca de Noe" (Noah's Arc), is located between the Mediterranean Sea to the south and the Mijas mountains to the north, in a tranquil and sparsely populated area known as Rancho de la Luz. This serene setting makes it an ideal choice for accommodations for retreats. From here, you can reach the stunning 7 km long beach and the vibrant city center of Fuengirola in just 10 - 15 minutes, as well as Mijas Pueblo, a charming old village in the hills that is definitely worth a visit. It also serves as a great starting point for mindfulness workshops, with opportunities for hiking into the nearby mountains.
Our location is perfect for day trips to colorful Malaga (just 35 minutes to the center), the popular beach town of Tarifa on the Atlantic, the famous rock of Gibraltar, the picturesque old town of Ronda with its impressive gorge, and the breathtaking biosphere reserve of Caminito del Rey featuring its stunning 3-hour walkway. Additionally, you can explore Granada with its renowned Alhambra and its Arabic-influenced old town, all within 1.5 to 2 hours from us. For those looking to venture further, Seville—with its beautiful city center, palace, cathedral, and arena—is about 2.5 to 3 hours away, making it perfect for an overnight stay.
